Mimar Sinan, born in 1489 and died in 1588, was the chief Ottoman architect and engineer. His architectural style was influential during the reign of three Ottoman sultans, making him one of the most famous and respected architects in history. His use of geometric patterns, domes, and slender minarets became characteristic of the Mimar Sinan style.
