Origins

Mesopotamian art refers to the artistic styles of the ancient civilizations that flourished in the region of Mesopotamia, situated in present-day Iraq, from around 3500 BCE to 539 BCE. Known for its intricate carvings, reed and clay figurines, and cuneiform inscriptions on clay tablets, Mesopotamian art was heavily influenced by the region's polytheistic religious beliefs.
