Pointillism

Pointillism

Pointillism is a painting technique developed in the late 19th century, most notably by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. This style is characterized by the use of small, distinct dots or strokes of pure color arranged in patterns to form an image. Pointillism is famous for its scientific approach to color theory and its focus on optical blending. By applying the theory of simultaneous contrast and divisionism, artists created vibrant and luminous compositions. This technique became a crucial part of the Neo-Impressionist movement.
