Origins

Kiyonobu Torii was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist who lived from 1664 to 1729. He was one of the most prominent ukiyo-e artists during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. His style became famous for its dramatic depictions of kabuki actors and beautiful courtesans. Kiyonobu's works showcased the vibrant colors and intricate details of the subjects, capturing the essence of the Edo period in Japan.
